<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrodeless discharge lamp that can improve efficiency of optical output and to carry out downsizing by lowering the coldest spot temperature of a dimple part, and to provide an illumination fixture. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Since the dimple part 12 is spirally formed, while maintaining the total length of an electrodeless discharge lamp 10 and the size of a bulb 11 equal to the conventional length and size, the dimple part 12 can be elongated than ever before, thereby: lowering the coolest point temperature compared with a conventional one to improve the efficiency; and increase the efficiency higher to obtain higher optical output. If the lowest temperature is equal to the conventional one, a protruding size of the dimple part 12 against a bulb 11 surface can be shortened, which can downsize the electordeless discharge lamp 10.
