摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detector and a detection method for performing measurement while maintaining high accuracy, without preparing an expensive measuring apparatus. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The detector, which reproduces a surface wobbling acceleration X'' from servo error signals FE and TE output from an optical head device including an optical system 6, an actuator 7 for driving the optical system 6, a detection means 13 for converting light from the optical system 6 into an electrical signal, a servo error signal detecting means 14 for detecting the servo error signals FE and TE from the electrical signal, and a control means 15 for controlling the actuator 7 based on the servo error signals FE and TE. The detector includes a displacement amount reproducing means 20 for reproducing a surface wobbling displacement amount X from the servo error signals FE and TE, and an acceleration reproducing means 30 for reproducing the surface wobbling acceleration X'' from the surface wobbling displacement amount X reproduced by the displacement amount reproducing means 20. The displacement amount reproducing means 20 includes the servo error signal detecting means 14, the actuator 7, and a reproduction means for reproducing the surface wobbling displacement amount X from a known gain value of the drive means 15.
