PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type video display configured to detect which light source fails among a plurality of light sources loaded to the projection type video display, and to inform the user of the failure of the light source. SOLUTION: Regarding the information method of the video display including the plurality of solid light sources 11 and an optical modulation element 30 for modulating the light emitted from the plurality of solid light sources 11 in accordance with a video input signal, the device includes: a light-source state detection section 130 that detects which solid light source becomes abnormal ; and a warning information section 150 that informs of the presence of the abnormal solid light source, color components of the abnormal solid light source, the position of the abnormal solid light source and the number of abnormal solid light sources.
