PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling structure of a rotary electric machine which is suitable for controlling a thickness increase of a housing improving cooling performance and reliability, and to provide a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The cooling structure includes the housing 2 and a holding part 6. The housing 2 includes a cooling groove 7A which forms a cooling-liquid path 7 to run a cooling liquid into an inner circumferential surface. The holding part 6 is formed in a thin-thickness cylindrical shape being provided with a larger elastic coefficient than the housing 2, blocks the cooling groove 7A to form the cooling-liquid path 7 fitted and fixed to the inner circumferential surface of the housing 2 from an inner circumferential side, and holds a stator 5 at the inner circumferential side.
