The ring has a carrier material (1) and a wear-protection layer (4) which consists of material that possesses reduced elasticity modulus which is greater than or equal to 350 GigaPascal. The elasticity modulus is calculated using a specific equation consisting of parameters such as elasticity modulus in Pascal and Poisson ratio. The wear-protection layer consists of vanadium nitride that comprises 49-78 percentage of vanadium and remaining nitrogen and impurities like oxygen. The vanadium nitride is present in cubic phase.
