<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display excellent in (front) contrast and image quality. <P>SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display satisfies Expression (I): nx≥ny>nz where nx and ny represent refractive indexes in x- and y-directions orthogonal each other in an in-plane direction in a phase difference layer of a phase difference body, and nz represents a z-directional refractive index in a thickness direction in the phase difference layer, and satisfies Expression (II): Re(Cell)>Re(C) where Re(Cell) is defined as an in-plane phase difference of a liquid crystal cell, and Re(C) is defined as an in-plane phase difference of the phase difference body. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
