<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of cracks in a heating belt when returning for an image forming operation from a belt temperature state lower than a belt control temperature during the image forming operation. <P>SOLUTION: A fixing device 6 is set to a first mode which is a combination mode of the heating of the heating belt 8 and the rotation stop of the heating belt 8 or a second mode which is a combination mode of the heating of the heating belt 8 and the rotation of the heating belt 8. When returning of the heating belt 8 for an image forming operation from non-heating and non-rotation of the heating belt 8, the heating belt 8 is controlled by the first mode and then the heating belt 8 is controlled by the second mode. When starting the transition to the second mode, the heating belt 8 is rotated by a predetermined amount in a direction reverse to a rotation direction during image formation and the rotated in the same direction as the rotation direction during the image formation. Thus, a temperature difference between a winding portion 8b of the heating belt 8 that is wound on a heating roller 11 and a non-winding portion 8c that is not wound on the heating roller is decreased in the first mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
