<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insert and an endoscope apparatus being easily inserted in the interior of a subject having a complicated shape and surely fixed to the subject as necessary. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This insert 10 is provided with: an insertion section 11; a substantially annular operation wire 18 that consists of two traction portions disposed along the axial direction at its peripheral face and two fold portions connected by being folded at their distal ends and proximal ends; a distal-side guide member 21 and a proximal-side guide member 22 that are fixed to the insertion section 11 at the fold portions or their adjacencies to advancingly/retractably support the operation wire 18; an operation member 17 that is provided to the peripheral face of the insertion section 11 to axially advance/retract and is fixed with either of the traction portions; a support member 16 that is disposed to the peripheral face of the insertion section 11 along the axial direction and is elastically bent and deformable; a fixing member 19 that fixes one end of the support member 16 to the peripheral face; and a slide member 20 that is provided to the peripheral face of the insertion section 11 to advance/retract along the axial direction, is fixed with the other end of the support member 16 and fixed with either of the traction portions.
