PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a hollow stabilizer superior in fatigue properties, with high productivity and processability while suppressing the manufacturing cost. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the hollow stabilizer comprises sequentially: a step of preparing a slab having a composition comprising, by mass%, 0.15 to 0.40% C, 0.30% or less Si, 0.3 to 2.0% Mn, 0.030% or less P, 0.010% or less S, 0.2 to 0.8% Cr, 0.005 to 0.1% Ti, 0.005 to 0.10% sol. Al, 0.010% or less N, 0.0010 to 0.0070% B, and the balance Fe with unavoidable impurities; a hot rolling step of finish-rolling the slab at a finishing temperature of 800 to 900°C, and then winding the plate at a winding temperature of 550 to 680°C to obtain a hot-rolled steel plate; a step of electric-resistance-welding the wound hot-rolled steel plate and tempering only a weld bead part at a transformation point Ac<SB>1</SB>or lower to obtain an electric-resistance-welded steel pipe; and steps of forming the electric-resistance-welded steel pipe into the hollow stabilizer, then hardening the inside of the hollow stabilizer with an average cooling rate of 50°C/second or higher, and subsequently tempering the hollow stabilizer at 400°C or lower.
