<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a train control system capable of managing well with eventual alteration of the line information in one of the sections easily and safely without widening the capacity of a database. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The train control system comprises a line database 6 storing the line information for two stations 1 at which a train 3 stops, a ground transmitting/receiving device 8, a ground apparatus 2 furnished with a ground controller 5, an on-board transmitting/receiving device 11, a data storage part 12 to store the line information received by the on-board transmitting/receiving device 11, and an on-board apparatus 4 equipped with an on-board controller 14 to control the train 3 on the basis of the line information stored in the data storage part 12, wherein the ground controller 5 transmits a departure permit signal to the train 3 via the ground transmitting/receiving device 8 when a ground determination part 9 determines that the line information is right, and controls a signal unit 10 into the proceed indication.
