<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone system which has a security function can acoustically monitor a movement of an intruder and the like through the telephone system when the intruder enters a construction such as a house. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In a telephone system 100, a plurality of extension telephones, a button telephone 200, and a security device 300 are linked with one another. The button telephone 200 stores the plurality of extension telephones and has a main unit 10 for controlling an internal line connection among the extension telephones and an outside line connection between the extension telephones and an outside line. The main unit 10 has: a means for making a call to a destination telephone in response to a signal from the security device for processing the detection information of a sensor; an activation control means for activating the microphone of the extension telephone and placing the microphone in a calling state by response from the destination telephone; a means for controlling the start of recording of sound caught by the microphone in a calling state with the extension telephone; and a means for storing recorded contents. The activation control means and the recording start control means start the microphones of other extension telephones and control the start of recording of the microphones, in response to input operation of the destination telephone in a calling state with an extension telephone.
