<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type image display device or a projection type image display system using the projection type image display device capable of making a single-input multi-screen display, a multi-input individual screen display or a multi-input multi-screen display. <P>SOLUTION: The projection type image display device performs input signal processing of image signal data input from an external image signal generator, at an input section, and distributes the image signal data output from the input section 4, to a plurality of image signal processing circuits 62, 63, 64, 65 by a distributing section 61. Each of the image signal processing circuits 62, 63, 64, 65 performs data conversion of the distributed image signal data into a screen size determined according to a selected projection mode, and adjusts and outputs the position and direction of the divided display screen.
