<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for reforming a hydrocarbon or an oxygen-containing hydrocarbon to produce a hydrogen-containing gas, especially, hydrogen for a fuel cell, and to provide a method for reforming the hydrocarbon. <P>SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing the catalyst for reforming the hydrocarbon comprises the steps of: immersing a carrier in a metal salt-containing solution; heating the carrier-immersed solution together with the immersed carrier to precipitate metal-containing hydrotalcite on the surface of the carrier; and firing the hydrotalcite-precipitated carrier.
