<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst carrier and a catalyst electrode, chemically stable in 0.00-1.00 V being operating voltage of a unit cell of a polymer electrolyte fuel cell. <P>SOLUTION: This catalyst carrier is constituted of boride including at least one metal selected from Zr, Hf, Nb, Ta and Cr, carbide composed of an MB<SB>2</SB>type crystal structure or Ti, Zr, Hf, Nb and C and nitride composed of an NaCl type crystal structure or Ta and N. With this constitution, the catalyst carrier and the catalyst electrode become stable to an electrolyte and chemical reaction in a range of 0.00-1.00 V being unit cell operating voltage of the polymer electrolyte fuel cell. As a result of it, the polymer electrolyte fuel cell having a high power generation characteristic and high durability, can be achieved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
