PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing a surface material of high quality. SOLUTION: The method for producing a surface material includes a feeding step of feeding a backer layer sheet and a surface sheet into a space between an embossing roll having embossing patterns and a cooling roll adjacent to the embossing roll; and a pressing step of passing the surface sheet and backer layer sheet through the space with the surface of the surface sheet opposed to the embossing roll and with the rear face superposed on the backer layer sheet, and pressing the two sheets to the embossing roll and cooling roll when the two sheets pass through the space. The backer layer sheet consists of molten thermoplastic resin, and the surface sheet is provided with a thermoplastic resin on the front and rear surfaces. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
