<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To present such a technology that can cause the density of an image to be formed on a recording paper to be faithful to that of an original document as much as possible and to prevent or suppress show-through effects. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image forming process is as follows: a control section causes the low reflection part of a roller to face a reading window (#1); when the tip of an original document reaches the opposite position of the reading window (YES at #2), the roller is rotated to execute first reading operation by an image reading section (#3); when the top part (non-image formation area) completes to pass by the opposite position of the reading window, the image reading section is made to stop the reading operation and the rotation of the roller is stopped (#4); and the image reading section is made to execute reading operation of the image formation area (second reading operation) (#5). The control section calculates a difference between image data obtained from a low-reflection part and image data obtained from a high-reflection part through the first reading operation (#6); the difference is added to image data obtained through the second reading operation (#7); and a recording section is made to execute image formation operation based on the image data (#8).
