PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of establishing synchronization, an OFDM modulation method, and a communication device, which can establish synchronization accurately even if offset occurs in a correlation value between a preamble and a known specific pattern. SOLUTION: A correlator 13a determines a correlation value between a head portion of a signal received by a receiver and a synchronization pattern. A high-pass filter 13b eliminates offset having a frequency lower than the frequency band of a correlation value signal from the correlation value signal. A peak detector 13c compares the correlation value passing through the high-pass filter 13b with a predetermined value range. A counter 13d starts to count time every time the correlation value falls within the predetermined value range. A timing detector 13e determines that synchronization is established when the correlation value falls within the predetermined value range in a plurality of timings nearly the same as the timings in which a period of time, which is equal to the fundamental period of the synchronization pattern or the integral multiple of the fundamental period, has been counted.
