<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copolymer of a cyclic olefin monomer having a polar group and a 2-12C α-olefin monomer, excellent in heat resistance, strength and molding workability, and a production method therefor free from generation of black metal derived from a catalyst. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The present invention uses, as a copolymer, the cyclic olefin copolymer of the cyclic olefin monomer of specified structure and the 2C-12C α-olefin monomer, in which a content of repetition unit derived from the cyclic olefin monomer is 47 mol.% or more to 70 mol.% or less, and in which a number-averaged molecular weight Mn 20,000 or more to 1,000,000 or less.
