PURPOSE: A contents reproducing apparatus and a method thereof are provided to search contents in an IPTV mode based on electronic program guide data to make a user enjoy an IPTV service easily. CONSTITUTION: A contents reproducing method comprises the following steps. The first detector(111) detects electronic program guide data from a received ground wave bit stream. The second detector(112) detects program information from the electronic program guide data detected in the first detector. A reproducing unit includes a buffer, a separation unit and a decoder.
