A device (2) for use in the filling and emptying of a waste container (4), the waste container (4) being of such a size and construction that it can be carried by a person (6), comprises a body portion (8) and a gripping formation (10). The body portion (8) is of such a size and shape that in use it extends between two opposite walls (12, 14) of the waste container (4) and thereby forms a removable partition between different compartments (16) for different types of the waste material (5) for re-cycling. The device (2) is of such a size and shape that it is also operable in a person's hand (22) as a scoop to scoop the waste material from the waste container (4) and into a larger bulk container, the gripping formation (10) being such that it enables the device (2) to be held in the person's hand (22) and used as the scoop. Edges of the device may carry friction members (40, 42, 44 or 53) to retain it in position as a partition. The gripping formation may comprise at least one hand hole. |
