Signalling in a communications network

A method of controlling communication in a communications network. A central node (10) sends a first message to a plurality of nodes (16). In response thereto, a gathering node (18) receives at least one second message, the or each message being received from a respective one of the plurality of nodes (16), the or each second message comprising information indicative of a state of the respective node. The response gathering node (18) forms a response message comprising data associated with said information, and sends the response message to the central node (10). The first message may be a multimedia broadcast/multicast service procedure request. Apparatus for carrying out such a method.
