Method involves transmitting two telegrams (20,21) from a transmitter to a receiver as a former telegram by a channel and as a latter telegram by another channel. Identification (23) is generated from a subset (20) of the former telegram for the latter telegram for detecting an error influencing the information during the transmission. The subset is used for determining the integrity of the information (22) contained in the former telegram. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a safety switching device for safe directed transmission of information; and (2) a control unit for safe directed transmission of information.
