An album creating apparatus for creating an album including a plurality of images includes: a color extraction section for extracting a plurality of colors included in the plurality of images; an appearance frequency of color calculating section for calculating the appearance frequency of the plurality of colors extracted by the color extraction section; a characteristic color determining section for determining characteristic colors which are colors characteristic of the plurality of images based on the appearance frequency of the plurality of colors calculated by the appearance frequency of color calculating section; and a template color selecting section for selecting colors for template which are used for a template of the album including the plurality of images based on the characteristic colors determined by the characteristic color determining section.
