In a brush tool of an electronic graphics design application, a single composite brush may include one or more brush components which are applied to the same stroke trail defined by a single pen down and pen up event. An interaction operation of the brush component(s) may be indicated such as merging of individual brush component stamps and/or trails of the brush components. A merging operator may define the composite brush component interaction which may be additive (e.g., a union), or subtractive (e.g., an intersection or a cut-away). The interaction may define the order of application of the merging operator to the brush components marks, such as sequential, hierarchical, and the like.
