PURPOSE: A method for providing a safe information deleting function in a mobile device and the mobile device using the same are provided to obtain user convenience and maximize processing load reduction and efficiency when deleting information. CONSTITUTION: A method for providing a safe information deleting function in a mobile device comprises the following steps. A selection signal about an information area to be deleted from a user is inputted through a user interface(S10). An information area inside a file extracted by accessing the file according to a selection signal inputted among files stored in a storage unit of a portable device(S20). The information area extracted through the user interface is provided to a user. A deletion confirmation signal is inputted(S30). A character string is overwritten on the extracted information area to permanently safely delete information(S60).
