The response characteristics of output signals and test signal from subwoofer (180) and main speaker (160) are measured, to detect a phase difference between subwoofer and speaker at a cross-over frequency. A delay value of the subwoofer is calculated, based on phase difference, to compensate for phase difference at the cross-over point between woofer and speaker. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) method of compensating for phase difference between speaker channels; (2) apparatus to compensate for phase difference between main speaker and subwoofer; (3) apparatus to compensate for phase difference between speaker channels; (4) audio reproducing device; (5) computer readable medium storing program for compensating phase difference between subwoofer and main speaker.
