A stabilizing device for a container. In one aspect, the stabilizing device comprises at least one base and a belt secured to the at least one base. The belt has a securing mechanism selectively operable to release the belt into an open position and to secure the belt in one or more closed positions. When the belt is secured about a substantially cylindrical container in one of the one or more closed positions with the base resting on a generally flat surface, the substantially cylindrical container is retained in a generally upright position and at least one porti on of the at least one base extends beyond an outer perimeter of the belt to receive a user's feet so th at when the user stands on the at least one portion of the base during mixing of contents of the substantially cylindrical container, movement of the substantially cylindrical container is inhibited.
