<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for heating preforms, which increases the efficiency of a heating device based on microwaves, has improved treating amount, and to provide a method therefor. <P>SOLUTION: An apparatus 1 for heating containers, in particular preforms, is provided with a microwave heating device 20 having a microwave generator 22 and a microwave-guide, and a transport device 12 transporting the containers.
