<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform correction of a color shift amount in an image forming apparatus in more effective timing and to remove a usage limit of the image forming apparatus caused by correction processing of the color shift amount. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus which forms a color image on a predetermined recording medium by transferring a plurality of reference color toner images to the recording medium by an electrophotographic system is equipped with: a color detection part 20 detecting a color of the toner image on an intermediate transfer belt 12; and a speed control part 30 acquiring speed of the intermediate transfer belt 12 based on a color detection signal output by the color detection part 20, and adjusting the speed of the intermediate transfer belt 12 to regulation speed based on the acquired speed.
