<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To intuitively and simply input an evaluation result for image correction. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Appearance frequencies (histogram) of pixel values included in image data are calculated. A peak of the histogram is specified, and an initial display position of a cursor is determined based upon the density value at the peak. Further, a pointer is initially displayed at a periphery of the initial display position. A user obtains the peak of the density value from the display position of the cursor.
