<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To significantly reduce a shaft displacement due to thermal insert without increasing a weight. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In this motor-driven compressor 1, a stator 9 of an electric motor 3 is thermally inserted in a housing 7. Notches 15, 15 are provided on both of circumferential side of a partially thick oil chamber 13 provided to the housing 7, so as to reduce a circumferential width A of a contact portion C of the oil chamber 13 and the housing 7 and almost uniform the thickness of the housing 7 along the entire circumference.
