<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a readout method of pixel data in a latch circuit without destroying it in an active matrix substrate which can be adapted to an electrophoretic display device provided with a latch circuit in a pixel. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The pixel data readout method has a power source switching step of switching power sources (Vdd, Vss)of a latch circuit 70a of a pixel 40A to positive and negative both power sources, a reference potential input step of inputting a ground potential to a data line 68a connected to the pixel 40A becoming a readout object, and a data readout step of obtaining an output of the data latch circuit 70a through the data line 68a.
