[Class 121] [See also Group VII] Fibres of a cellulose derivative, for example a cellulose ester such as cellulose acetate, or cellulose nitrate, are made into a woven, braided, knitted, felted or other fabric material which is placed between shoe parts to be adhesively connected under pressure, e.g. a sole and insole or welt, or in a stitch channel in a sole while the flap is raised, and rendered adhesive by treating it with a solvent such as acetone. The fabric material may consist of a ribbon or tape 36, or of one or more separate strands of yarn which can be caused readily to conform to the shape of the part to be connected, and may be treated with the solvent, e.g. by passing it through a bath, and afterwards applied upon one or other of the shoe parts to be joined together. In order to facilitate the handling of the material it may be reinforced with fibres such as cotton threads or yarn which are non-soluble in or inert with respect to the solvent employed.
