<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing nanocarbon using waste tire carbon. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Waste tire carbon is converted to a finely divided carbon material consisting of at least two of carbon particles from activated carbon particles, graphite particles, amorphous carbon particles and a mixture of these, the finely divided carbon material is put in a pressurized and heated vessel, and decompression explosion is caused to convert the finely divided carbon material to nanocarbon. The finely divided carbon material is pressurized to a range of 5-20 kg/cm<SP>2</SP>and heated to a range of 125-400°C.
