<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the picture quality when zooming the picture, and shorten the processing time, and further, reduce its power consumption. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An apparatus for processing image signals has a photographing element 12 for photographing a picture, a recording means 50 for recording the photographed picture in a recording medium 60, a memory region 30 for so reading out the photographed picture from the recording medium 60 as to memorize it therein temporarily, a re-sizing circuit 17 for so reading out the picture from the memory region 30 as to re-size it, a picture displaying memory-region 22 for temporarily memorizing the picture re-sized by the re-sizing circuit 17, to display it, and a re-sizing and displaying circuit 24 for so reading out a desired region from the picture displaying memory-region 22 as to display the re-sized picture.
