<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tensioner mounting structure capable of suppressing noise without enlarging an internal combustion engine. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The tensioner mounting structure 1 comprises a driving side sprocket 2; a driven side sprocket 3; a chain 4 laid between both sprockets; a tensioner arm member 5 having an arcuate surface portion 52a abutting on a slackening side chain 4a of the chain 4, supported by a supporting shaft 53 arranged on an engine body at one end side 51a, and structured to freely rock on the other end side 51b; and a tensioner 6 pressing and energizing the other end side 51b of the tensioner arm member 5 toward the chain 4. The supporting shaft 53 is arranged on a straight line L connecting a center point α of the circumference including the arcuate surface portion 52a as a part and a center point β of the driven side sprocket 3 when the tensioner arm member 5 is in an initial state, and a position close to the driven side sprocket 3.
