<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diaphragm which is made using a magnesium alloy, has sufficient rigidity and can suppress split vibration, and to provide a manufacturing method thereof. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The dome type diaphragm for a speaker is formed by press-machining a magnesium alloy plate. The diaphragm is configured so that its thickness is gradually reduced from the outer circumference toward the center and a thickness t<SB>2</SB>in the center of the diaphragm is 0.2-0.8 times the thickness t<SB>1</SB>of the outer circumference.
