PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of improving caking capacity of a raw material coal and obtaining cheaply a high-strength coke for blast furnace by adding a good binder to the raw material coal by effectively making use of only the components having an effect on caking capacity out of components constituting coal tar and/or coal tar pitch. SOLUTION: In the method of manufacturing the coke for blast furnace by adding a binder into a blended coal containing 20-60 mass% of a non- or slightly-caking coal, mixing them and then carbonizing in a coke oven, a substance is added, as the binder, into the blended coal in an amount of 0.5-10 mass%. Herein, the substance is obtained by dissolving one or more of coal tar, a coal tar heavy fraction and coal tar pitch in an alcohol solvent, separating into an alcohol-soluble substance containing aromatic carbonyl compounds and an alcohol-insoluble substance, the other portion, and making the alcohol-insoluble substance the binder.
