<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic inspection method and an ultrasonic inspection device for inspecting easily, and detecting even a circumferential crack and an axial crack existing on a weld line. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An ultrasonic probe 101 is arranged on the surface (scanning surface) of a structure positioned on the opposite side to the weld line. Assuming that a normal direction on the scanning surface is an X-axis, a weld line direction is a Y-axis, a direction vertical to the X-axis and the Y-axis is a Z-axis, and an axis determined by rotating the X-axis with respect to the Z-axis is an X' axis, an ultrasonic wave is used for scanning at an optional angle in an X'-Z plane. A control mechanism 103 performs signal processing relative to the intensity of a reflected wave signal obtained from defect DE-V, defect DE-H or the like, when scanning at an optional angle with the ultrasonic wave, to thereby detect a defect and measure a length.
