<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excavator capable of drilling a hole with a high degree of accuracy without reference to the depth of excavation by a simple constitution. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This excavator comprises: a leader 1; a driving means which is movably attached along the leader 1; a rod 3 in which a plurality of rod constituting members 31 are axially connected together, and which moves together with the driving means; a connecting member 4 for axially connecting the rod constituting members 31 together; a lower bracing means which is fixed to a lower portion of the leader 1; and an intermediate bracing means 6 which is arranged on the upside of the lower bracing means. The intermediate bracing means 6 is provided with a leading holding portion 60 for slidably holding the leader 1, and an attachment portion 61 which is fixed to the connecting member 4.
