<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reclining device with a memory mechanism capable of storing a tilt angle when moving a seat back to a forward tilt position and returning to the tilt angle position. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The seat reclining device is provided with: a locking gear 7 which has an external tooth 6 detachably engaged with an internal tooth 5 of a gear plate 3 by a cam 4, disposed between a base plate 1 and the gear plate 3 rotationally connected to the base plate 1, with their mutually facing in the diametrical direction; the cam 4, which is energized to engage the external tooth 6 of the locking gear 7 with the internal tooth 5 of the gear plate 3, engaged with a lever plate 8; and a memory gear 12 having an external tooth 28 which is engageable with another internal tooth 29 of the gear plate 3 by detaching the external tooth 6 of the locking gear 7 from the internal tooth 5 of the gear plate 3; wherein the memory gear 12 is engaged with a memory spring 14 that energizes the memory gear 12 to rotationally turn to a predetermined position in locking for storing the tilt angle.
