<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotor for IPM motors structured to effectively suppress thermal demagnetization caused by a magnetization reversal field that may be produced in a permanent magnet, and to provide an IPM motor equipped with the rotor. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the rotor 1 for IPM motors, multiple permanent magnets 2 are housed in the slots 13 in a rotor core 10 and a resin material 3 for fixing a permanent magnet is placed between at least a part of a side face of each permanent magnet 2 and the inner wall of the corresponding slot 13. In each resin material 3, there is formed a communicating portion 4 leading to the side face of each permanent magnet 2 and the inner face of the slot 13 and is made of a magnetic material.
