<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a root blower device 1 including a root blower body 2, a drive motor 3 disposed below the root blower body 2, and a noise reduction cover 4 surrounding the root blower body 2 and the drive motor 3 entirely, capable of achieving both noise reduction and bearing cooling capabilities. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A partition plate 52 is disposed inside a noise reduction cover 4 to divide the inside of a cover into two parts, an upper area 4a and a lower area 4b. A suction port 24 (61) of a root blower body 2 is opened in the upper area 4a, while a discharge port 26 is opened on the outside of the noise reduction cover 4. An introduction port 44a is opened in the noise reduction cover 4 communicating with the lower area 4b. An opening 53 for communicating the upper area 4a and the lower area 4b with each other is formed in the partition plate 52 at a position facing a bearing case 22 of the root blower body 2.
