A method for connecting a needle electrode to a neurological testing device, the method comprising: providing an interconnect comprising a needle-side connector and a device-side connector, wherein the needle-side connector and the device-side connector have complementary aspects so as to ensure that the correct needle electrode is used with a given neurological testing device; and connecting the needle-side connector to the device-side connector.
