The method involves transmitting information from a short range communication device (14) e.g. mobile phone, of a vehicle (10) i.e. car, to a routing device (16) i.e. reflector device, over a short range network (21) i.e. vehicular ad-hoc network, with a locally limited coverage, according to IEEE 802.11pstandard. The information received from the vehicle is transmitted to a receiver (18) of a vehicle (12), over another short range network (22) by the device (16). The vehicle (12) does not contain a short range communication device e.g. personal digital assistant. An independent claim is also included for a system for transmitting data between vehicles.
