The system has an evaporator for cooling airflow, and a heat exchanger arranged downstream the evaporator. The heat exchanger is assigned with two air flow control members (28) for adjusting region-wise flow through air in the heat exchanger. A mixing chamber is arranged downstream of the heat exchanger to supply cold air bypassing the heat exchanger. A cold air channel (16) is unilaterally formed in the heat exchanger. The mixing chamber includes an air conducting element for supplying cold air from the cold air channel to the center plane of a passenger compartment.
