PURPOSE: An L-methionine which is converted from O-succinylhomoserine from L-methionine precursor is provided to use as a animal feed or animal feed additive and food or food additive for human. CONSTITUTION: An Escherichia sp. derived strain which produces O-succinylhomoserine is formed by inducing and enhancing homoserine O-succinyltransferase activity (EC2.3.1.46), having feed back resistance to the methinonine, and enhancing aspatokinase or homoserine dihydrogenase activity (EC2.7.2.4 or 1.1.1.3).
