<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gap closing material which can be simply installed without reference to the time of the erection or dismantlement of prefabricated scaffolding and which can be used in the state of being turned upside down, and the prefabricated scaffolding with the built-in gap closing material. <P>SOLUTION: This gap closing material, which has the first side facing a beam material of a staircase opening handrail in the staircase opening of the prefabricated scaffolding in parallel, is formed in such an approximately triangular shape as to be capable of closing the gap formed at a non-entrance-side end. The gap closing material is characterized in that the first side or an extension portion thereof is provided with a mounting bracket which enables the gap closing material to be mounted in a vertically-turnable manner on the beam material of the staircase opening handrail.
