<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact lens barrel and a compact imaging apparatus equipped with it. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The lens barrel has an imaging optical system constituted of a plurality of lens groups for guiding subject light, a plurality of lens frames for holding the respective lens groups, and an actuator having a driving part and a shaft part that straight advances and rotates relatively to the driving part, wherein a thrust direction of the shaft part is fixed and the driving part moves to straight advance relative to the shaft part, thereby moving the lens frame engaged with the driving part in the optical axis direction of the imaging optical system.
