<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data transmission system that prevents a network from being segmented into a plurality as a protection function is executed. <P>SOLUTION: A band monitor unit monitors bandwidths of first and second transmission lines between this device and first and second transmission devices which are contiguous to both sides of the device.
